A Koto period Katate-uchi (single hand Katana) with a gorgeous large Fudo Myo Horimono, in great polish and mounted in nice koshirae.
This sword has a beautiful blade with a very vivid Choji Midare style Hamon, it has plenty of activities such as Sunagashi running the full length. The overall Sugata, complemented by the large Sori is also very pleasing. The Horimono is very well done and is eye catching but this does not draw the eye away from just how good the blade is, both Hamon and Hada have so much to enjoy.
The Koshirae fittings are well fitted and of good quality. The Tsuba alone is a fantastic piece of art signed Koshu Hikone Ju Tsutsui Yoshifusa – more research awaiting. The Habaki is also extremely well made, half Silver foiled and half Shibichi.
This sword does have a couple of small ware in the Shinogi Ji above the Kissaki. Personally, for me, it does not detract from what is an excellent and very enjoyable sword.
